For sale is a RARE! And highly complete and original ANTIQUE LEATHER FIREMAN HELMET/ HARD HAT made by S. P. Hayward & co (see original maker’s mark inside of the hat). The exterior hat rim has highly decorative embossed pattern on the leather. Great original curved form. The shaped tin insignia reads “Defiance No 1”. The brass/tin arch on the top of the hat is also original but had some loss. See photo for detail. The original hanging hook on the back of the hat rim is present. No other damages or losses that I can identify.
Overall, An amazing Genuine early 1900s fireman’s helmet in the best shape you can find out there.
Dimensions are 11” by 14.5” by 8”.
