Vintage Cairns Leather New Yorker Fire Helmet Pre MSA No Letter Code Rare!.
Many insider talks have been saying MSA will be discontinuing all Leather Fire Helmets by the end of next year and the highest quality beloved Cairns leather will be no more. The value of these iconic pieces will go up after this so I’m selling this one in hopes to buy a new in box one for when my kid once he becomes old enough to join me.
This helmet came from an estate just outside of Staten Island NY. It does not have the traditional FDNY markings on the inside of the helmet but it could be, it has the bend and there are tags inside. It’s in solid condition but is missing the front Eagle. There was no holes in the front comb for rivets so my guess is it either had a pressure-screw in Eagle or was possibly a high Eagle but I’ve never seen one this old without the rivet holes. Either way the cut out markings are there and could easily be drilled out. I left it without putting a shield holder on so the buyer can decide weather to drill it or not. It’s old, has no chin strap but has the hangers for it. The pictures didn’t come out as nice as it actually looks but I can take any specific ones if need be, the light really glared in the pics.
